Why do you love Topo Chico so much?
There’s just something about that bubble that hits differently. I love the crisp and refreshing flavor. It pairs really well with food and is my go to when I want to step it up from water. I found out about them at the food and wine festival in 2016 and have been hooked ever since. Topo Chico, if you’re listening, I love you.
If you’re not in the kitchen, where can I find you?
My soul finds rest in the kitchen, but also gets recharged during time spent with my friends and family. That looks a little differently now, but we’re still making it work. I’ve also got an airedale terrier named Helen, and you can find us taking hikes together as well as shopping for new treats and bandanas. I love exercising my mind, body and spirit and find joy in connecting with my community.
What’s your favorite restaurant in Nashville?
Because there are too many that I love...I’ll break it down to a few categories:
Breakfast/Brunch: Lou, Cafe Roze
Lunch: Grekko Street Food, Vui’s Kitchen, Burger Up
Dinner: Lockeland Table, Mas Tacos, Barcelona Wine Bar, Butchertown Hall, Folk, Rolf and Daughters, Two Ten Jack (ok I’m done…for now! Haha)
What’s your favorite ingredient that you try to include in every recipe?
My favorite thing to cook with is rosemary. I love the flavor it brings through and the simplicity of it. It may be small, but it is mighty...and really pretty. Food also evokes memory. And this herb reminds me of time spent in the kitchen with my grandmother. Every time I use it, my heart is just happy.
How do you take your coffee?
I take my coffee black. I didn’t drink coffee until I was about 25...so I started a little late in the game. I love the strong flavor coming in through the beans and have found that for me, simple is best.
